The Twins may have the worst record in baseball, but for all intents and purposes, the Angels were fortunate to escape with even one win. Today was no different than the first two games, as Minnesota battled the Angels down to the final at bat.
The series was a success for the starting pitchers. Who is the ace of the staff, Jered Weaver or Dan Haren? Haren and Weaver have comparable stats. These may be the best 1-2 starters the Halos have had in eons. Tyler Chatwood was also pretty good in the middle game. Doesn’t he remember that he is a rookie?
I may get on Jeff Mathis, but he might be an all-star in a Twins uniform. Have you checked out the stats for the 2 Minnesota back stops. Drew Butera is hitting 172, while Rene Rivera is at .126. I remember when Rivera was with the Mariners. I don’t want to say I am shocked, but I am surprised that he is still around. I do have to say that there may not be a more accurate thrower in the league than Butera, who also has a cannon for an arm. Yes, I know that Joe Mauer is the starter, but he has just 34 at bats this season. The Twins need him desperately.
Nice homecoming for Torii Hunter, who went 5-13 in the series. That’s a .384 average.
Today was he first runs Jordan Walden has allowed in his last 5 outings, but why does it seem like he has given up more than that? Maybe it’s the 6 hits he has allowed in the 6 innings he’s pitched in those 5 outings. He always seems to be in trouble, but almost always wiggles out of it. He may become the Angels version of Don Stanhouse. So far walden has only blown 3 saves. When K-Rod took over full-time closer duties in 2005, he blew 5 saves.
Russell Branyan watch: Got his first hit as an Angel, a single in the 4th inning. He did strikeout 2 more times, giving him 5 in 12 at bats.
With two 6-5 wins in Minnesota, the Halos are now 9-13 in 1-run games. Need to improve that mark.
Off to Kansas City for the Halos. The last time the Angels were in KC, they lost 3 of 4.The one guy they did beat, Luke Hochevar, throws tomorrow against Ervin Santana.

O'kay I'll talk about myself a little. I've been working in the television/radio industry for over 21 years. I started at 2 so I am just a tad over 21 (That is a joke). My career has taken me around and and even out of the United States. Right now I call Vegas home, but I just never know where life will take me next. Until 2002 my irrational love for the California/Anaheim/LAA had taken me down some very dark roads, but with Arte Moreno in charge I finally saw the a light at the end of the road. I really love most every sports and having as much fun as possible.
