NESN reports that Boston now looks likely to trade the 25th overall pick in this year’s draft. While nothing is official this news should not come as shocking given the perceived ineptitude of this year’s draft class.
The following quotes are from the NESN article made by Danny Ainge via the Celtics Twitter feed:
“It’s not a strong draft. There’s not a lot of players who could change a franchise.”
“Historically, the odds of a #25 draft pick breaking into a rotation is like 6%.”
“The last thing I wanna do…because we’re trying to win…is put inexperienced players under Doc. It’s a delicate balance.”
The debate about where the Celtics needed to improve the most became a moot point with the news of Nenad Krstic signing overseas. Boston is in dire need of a “Big”.
Ainge likely has his eyes set on a handful of players and consequently probably has a plan to trade the pick should his desired players be taken off the board. Stay tuned.
