I said I expected the Angels to sweep the Mets. They did take two of three, and that ain’t bad. Did I say that, or did Meat Loaf say it? They don’t do it much, but the Angels got good pitching and good hitting on the same day.
Being a rookie, Tyler Chatwood can’t say anything, but I bet he was frustrated that the Angels couldn’t score any runs for him of late. How many runs have the Halos put on the board for Chatwood in his last 3 starts. Let’s see, take the 5, multiply it by 2, and subtract 10. That’s right the Angels have scored zero runs for the guy in his last 3 outings. The last time they had runners cross the plate when he pitched was in late May. No matter how good you might be, its gotta be tough to win when you get no runs to work with. Chatwood also proved to be deadly with a bat in his hands, getting his first MLB hit.
Give it up for Vernon Wells. The left fielder had a good defensive 3 games, but an even stronger offensive series. With his 3 hits today, Wells has dragged his average over the .200 mark. Still not above the Mendoza line, but nice to see him catch fire a bit. He went 4-12 in the series with a home run, and 3 RBI. He also made a nice basket catch, and gave his cap to a kid. Nice 3 games dude, now keep it up.
The Angels rediscovered how to hit with runners in scoring position, going 3-10 on Sunday.
I don’t mean to rain on the parade, but exchanging Bobby Cassevah for Kevin Jepsen was a lateral move. Both stink. I guess you have to fill out the back of your bullpen somehow, and he’s better than nothing–or is he?
So now the Angels head to Florida to play a collapsing Marlins team. The Marlins are in a free fall, having lost 10 straight, 18 of 19, and 19 of 22. Weird thing is, even with all there losing the fish are still just 8 games under .500. Things are now so bad that their manager Edwin Rodriguez resigned on Sunday His replacement looks to be Jack McKeon, who is all of 80 years old. With the infusion of the shoot from the hip McKeon, the Marlins luck will change. Let’s hope it doesn’t in the next 3 days.

O'kay I'll talk about myself a little. I've been working in the television/radio industry for over 21 years. I started at 2 so I am just a tad over 21 (That is a joke). My career has taken me around and and even out of the United States. Right now I call Vegas home, but I just never know where life will take me next. Until 2002 my irrational love for the California/Anaheim/LAA had taken me down some very dark roads, but with Arte Moreno in charge I finally saw the a light at the end of the road. I really love most every sports and having as much fun as possible.
