He’s Just a “Big Baby”…Glen Davis discusses his future as a Celtic

In what could be considered slightly ironic, Glen Davis discussed his future with a Boston Celtics logo behind him in the distance at a Medford, Massachusetts community rebuild project on Monday afternoon.
Chris Forsberg of ESPN Boston spoke with ‘Big Baby’ at the event and was able to pull some very interesting quotes that show fans how Glen Davis truly views himself. Here are some of the highlights:
“I feel I know what’s most important to me and that’s Glen being Glen. I can’t perform the way I need to perform if I’m not Glen Davis. I need to be in a situation where I’m going to be Glen Davis. If it’s here with the Celtics or with somebody else. I just want to make sure I’m Glen Davis, whatever I do, wherever I’m at. That’s all I’m really concentrating on, being Glen Davis, and being a complete player.”
“I can be Glen Davis wherever. It depends on the system, the people around the system, who is going to let Glen Davis be Glen Davis, not let Glen Davis be something they think he should be.”
Glen Davis also added that he was not prepared mentally for the playoffs and he was really only present in body. As if his 4.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 39% from the floor averages didn’t tell us that already.
Thank you Glen Davis for the memo.
I would also like to thank Glen Davis for the eye opening and ear polluting manner in which Glen Davis referred to himself as only Glen Davis could. Is it wrong to knock Glen Davis for his portrayal of himself while at a community event?
Maybe, but his insistent mention of his own name reiterates the point Doc Rivers said about about Davis at the end of the season, “Scoring was way to important to him”. Glen Davis thinks he is a better player than he is and he has become selfish. That thinking does not fit into the well rounded team play of the Boston Celtics.
Glen Davis is definitely sniffing his own formula.
While the times have not always been bad it appears they will get worse if Glen Davis remains on the Celtics roster. Boston would be wise to cut their losses and allow Glen Davis to go be Glen Davis in another uniform.
It is time to say bye bye, Baby!
