NCAA Rule Violation “Rocks” Penn State

With all the scandalous news coming out of Columbus, Joe Paterno must have been feeling neglected, because apparently the Nittany Lions head coach snuck a peek at an unsupervised workout last week (that’s a no-no). Penn State will report the incident to the NCAA.
In a taping of ESPN’s “Difference Makers: Life Lessons with Paterno and (Duke men’s basketball head coach Mike) Krzyzewski” Paterno related the story of how he was out for a stroll on campus and passed by Holuba Hall where the players were running their own offseason sessions. Back at his office, he mentioned to an assistant that one of the players looked particularly good, and the coach reminded JoePa that he just broke a rule. Ooops.
It’s not exactly free cars and tattoos, but at least Paterno’s sainthood application will be put on hold for a little while, particularly if his team’s unsupervised workouts don’t pay off once the season starts.
