After 2 days of offense, the Angels got just enough pitching to beat the Washington Nationals 1-0, sweeping the 3 game set.
The Angels didn’t even need a hit to score their run in the 7th inning. I keep hearing how Ryan Zimmerman is one of baseballs best 3rd basemen, but if he is, he sure wasn’t this week. He gunned an easy double play grounder in to right field, allowing Bobby Abreu to get in scoring position, eventually scoring the only run. He looked shaky on almost every grounder hit his way, as did Ian Desmond at short. The Nats defense did them in numerous times in the 3 games. They sure didn’t help Jordan Zimmerman today.
Nice to see the real Jordan Walden in the game. After blowing his past 2 saves Walden looked awesome again. I wonder what Jeff Mathis said to him before he struck out Mike Morse to end the game. Wouldn’t it nice if there was a person in everyones life that would give a few words of encouragement whenever you got in a sticky situation?
Peter Bourjos is having a stifling June. The speedy center fielder is hitting almost .330 for the month. If he could ever learn to be a leadoff hitter, he would cause quite a bit of damage on the bases.
If they didn’t lose on Sunday to the Dodgers, the Angels would be on a 7 game winning streak.
I made a mistake, I’ll admit it. I keep saying that Vernon Wells is making 24 million dollars this year. I was wrong, he is making over 26 and a half million dollars.
Remember years ago, people would say, “I wanna be a millionaire” and others would laugh because that is impossible? Well, the Halos have 15 players making over 1 million dollars. WOW!
The lowest paid players make $414.000 thousand dollars. How many of us would take that paycheck right now? BTW: Bourjos, Walden and Mark Trumbo are three of those players.
The Halos have a day off before ending their interleague schedule with three games against the Dodgers. Come on people, you saw all the fans disguised as empty seats in LA last weekend, make sure you fill the seats this weekend in Anaheim. If for no other reason, than to get back at the Dodgers. Remember there was a time that they laughed at the Angels existence.
Talking about ex-Dodges, Davey Johnson is still looking for his first win as Nats manager. Glad he didn’t get his first against the Angels.

O'kay I'll talk about myself a little. I've been working in the television/radio industry for over 21 years. I started at 2 so I am just a tad over 21 (That is a joke). My career has taken me around and and even out of the United States. Right now I call Vegas home, but I just never know where life will take me next. Until 2002 my irrational love for the California/Anaheim/LAA had taken me down some very dark roads, but with Arte Moreno in charge I finally saw the a light at the end of the road. I really love most every sports and having as much fun as possible.
