The University of North Carolina got tripped up after finding out that Junior Guard Leslie McDonald tore his ACL and will be out indefinetly.
The Tar Heels have been projected to be the preseason #1 when the rankings get released for the upcoming season, and with the injury to McDonald, I believe the ranking will not be affected but it will have an affect on the season.
McDonald is a tough kid that can give you exactly what you want on both ends of the court.
This kid worked so hard to help bring the Tar Heels a game away from the Final Four and its just tough to see a guy go down like this when it deals with a summer league game, but maybe its good it happened in July rather then later in the year. This means there is a possibility of McDonald returning at some point in the late season, but nothing is promised.
With the return of star freshman Harrison Barnes, along with John Henson and Tyler Zeller returning as well this team is destined for greatness with an incoming freshman class that consists of star recruit James McAdoo and sharp shooting guard P.J Hairston I don’t see a reason that this Tar Heels team can’t be as great or even greater then the 2009 Tar Heels led by star studded Tyler Hansbourgh that won the National Championship (which I was in attendance for).
This team is way too talented that they will have no problem overcoming this obstacle and should be at the top of the game when the season opens up in November.
