Philadelphia Eagles: They Need to Add an Elite Cover Corner to Complement Samuel

Ok, so I’m in this contest to become the next host on 97.5 the Fanatic, a Philadelphia based sports talk station. If you could take 30 seconds and PLEASE hit the “like” button on the link I provided not only on the facebook like but also where the comments section is below it would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately the audio didn’t come out the way I would’ve liked, but hopefully you like my rant!

Essentially, I talk about why the Eagles need to upgrade at the cornerback position.

Currently, the NFL is a pass happy league, and I believe that it’s key to have a dominant trio of cornerbacks.

I think the Eagles should add an elite cover corner like Asomugha which I mentioned, or Johnathan Joseph.

If you look at what the Jets did last offseason with the additions of Antonio Cromartie and Kyle Wilson via the first round of the NFL Draft to go along with the best cornerback in the league Darrelle Revis, they built their team to compete with Indianapolis and New England, the best passing offenses in the AFC.

They defeated the Colts on a last second field, and upset New England in the Divisional Round. Of the 50 offensive plays that the Patriots ran, the Jets blitzed just five times.

Of course, Pittsburgh took care of New York in the AFC Championship.

In my opinion, the three best teams in the NFC are New Orleans, Green Bay and Atlanta. They all like to spread the ball around using several wide receivers. Atlanta upgraded their receiving corps with the addition of Julio Jones in the NFL Draft.

Now, I’m asssuming Kevin Kolb gets dealt to Arizona for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a NFL Draft pick.

Rodgers-Cromartie plays a lot like Asante Samuel, they both take a lot of chances on the football. With an Asomugha or Joseph, that would provide the proper complement to Samuel, since both are cover corners.

Think about this possible trio, Asomugha/Joseph, Rodgers-Cromartie and Asante Samuel. To go along with the offense that the Eagles currently have, it would be a great start to free agency.

In other news, the Eagles and Jason Babin agreed on a five-year $28-million deal. He had a career year under the Eagles defensive line coach Jim Washburn last year in Tennessee, he had 12.5 sacks.

Again please LIKE my link, thanks to all that do!
