Ca—–no!!!!!!!! Mr. Robinson has Grand Day on Biggest Stage.

It would be easy to be pissed off that Maicer Izturis’ error led to the Angels loss today in New York, but I am not. Izturis has been one of the most consistent guys in the Halos lineup from day 1. Clutch hits & key defensive plays have been a staple of Izturis play since becoming an Angel a few years ago. That doesn’t mean I am happy, but from time to time bad things happen.
Robinson Cano’s hit a good pitch from Scott Downs for a grand slam. Cano had a fantastic series, hitting .583 with 2 home runs, and 6 RBI.
If you would have told me that the Halos would score 3 earned runs off Mariono Rivera in 3 games, I would have told you the Halos either took 2 of 3, or swept the Yankees.
I forgot Russell Branyan was on the team. Other than his key home run against the Dodgers a couple months back, Branyan has done nothing. Nice swing today against Rivera though. Branyan’s 3-run blast gave the Halos a little life, but remember, it’s MARIANO RIVERA pitching. He closed the door, handing the Angels their first series loss since their first one after the all-star break.
Tyler Chatwood looked good. At least better than he has in his past 2 starts. Chatwood kept the Angels in the game, which is what I hoped he would do. His only mistake was the pitch he made to Curtis Granderson, who hit a 2-run shot in the 6th inning.
Granderson chewed up Halo pitching in the 3 games. 4 home runs, 7 RBI, and a .333 average. He also plays a pretty good centerfield, don’t ya think.
I never thought I’d see Erick Aybar go 0-30, not with his speed, and his ability to hit the ball on the ground. He broke that skid today with an infield single in the 5th inning.
Vernon Wells average is now down to .208. He had one hit in the 3 games in New York. Hopefully, his return to Toronto will invigorate him. I don’t have high hopes, but weirder things have happened. At least Wells is not taking his offensive problems to the field, as he continues to make some impressive plays in left. He did it again on Thursday.
The Angels send their big guns the next 3 days. Santana, Weaver and Haren will all take the hill for a Halo team that trails the Rangers by 2 games.
The Rangers are in Oakland. Let’s hope the A’s pitching can control the Ranger bats. So far this season, the Rangers have lost 2 of 3 games they they have played in Oakland.
Starting Monday, the Rangers get 4 in Anaheim. I know, I know, Toronto first.
