What started out as a somber day of 9/11 and a couple 3 and outs by Rex Grossman, ended with a phenomenal showing by the Redskins defense to take the Giants by 2 TDs for a 28-14 score. Many Giants fans will try to blame this loss on the fact that half their defense didn’t play, however, how do they explain scoring 2 TDs in the first half then a non-existent 2nd?
As mentioned, Rex Grossman started out slow with 2 consecutive 3 and outs. The Giants also scored first with a 2 yard running TD by Eli Manning. The third possession by the Redskin’ O was a little better, got them to a 39 year FG attempt, but was wide right. Still 7-0 Giants. I was worried at this point. And more so when the Skins went for it at 4th and 5 at the Giants 37 and a pass to Santana Moss gets them the first down. The Skins then tie the score with a 1 yard run TD by Tim Hightower.
The Giants score again in the first half to take the lead at 14-7,however, with under 2 minutes remaining, Rex Grossman finds Anthony Armstrong for a 6 yard TD, taking them into a tie into half time.
The second half was all Redskins D. The first Giants possession deep in their own end, Eli Manning pass was deflected by Rookie Ryan Kerrigan and then intercepted and run in for a TD. This is the first regular season game for the rookie and his first defensive interception and TD. Amazeballs. 21-14 Redskins.
More for the Washington Redskins D is a 4th and 1 call by the Giants to go for it, but the Redskins hold them off. In the 4th quarter, the Giants attempt a 39 yard FG but the ball is blocked by Brian Orakpo and recovered by London Fletcher to take possession. The Redskins capitalize on this Defensive gift with a 4 yard pass to Jabar Gaffney to take the lead 28-14. With 5 minutes remaining in the game, the Redskins would get 2 more sacks on Manning to seal their fate and the game.

I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s). My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher. Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
