Cowboys Return to Candlestick Park

The Cowboys lost the game last week, the Jets didn’t win it, but they have the notch in the win column nuff said. Now the team looks on to this weeks game against the 49ers, in San Francisco, where they will hardly renew the rivalry of old, but should produce a nice game.
The biggest story is Tony Romo’s bonehead pass that lost the game last week, and will he recover this week. Answer. Yes he will. Jerry Jones said this week that Tony played one of the best games he’d ever seen him play. That’s an absolute stretch considering the way the game ended and especially because good play is most often measured by wins. That aside, I agree with Jones, Romo played great against a top 5 defense. He threw for 342 yards and 2 scores and that can’t be discounted. Romo will rebound this week.
Another big story to look for going into Sunday is Dez Bryant’s bruised quad. He is listed as questionable, but Jerry Jones has faith that Bryant will play even if he doesn’t practice this week. That’s enough for me. Bryant proved last week that he is a star and that he is willing to play through pain. He owned Antonio Cromartie and Darelle Revis, and Revis couldn’t keep up with his energy until Bryant got hurt and slowed down. To his credit he kept playing and drew coverage from Revis, who looked good when he was on Miles Austin.
Felix Jones ran well, but was contained by the Jets last week, and the same could be true this week against Patrick Willis and the 49ers D. The Cowboys will probably involve him more in the pass game, which is really the engine they are looking to run the team with.
The Dallas defense looked much improved against the run last week holding the Jets, who were 4th in the league in rushing last season, to 45 yards on the ground. They also held their own with a beat up secondary.
The 49ers are coming off a 33-17 with that really should have been more like 19-17 win, but Ted Ginn Jr. had a pair of beautiful returns back to back. The Dallas special teams will have to key in on Ginn and try to avoid another special teams disaster, the likes of which they suffered last week.
If the Cowboys can contain Vernon Davis and Frank Gore, they will have little push back from the San Fran offense.
I think Romo will bounce back and Dez should play this week. Look for the Cowboys to rebound this week.
