Quick hits on this week’s golf results in this week’s What It Means:
1) It’s surprising that Justin Rose has only won 3 times now on the PGA Tour, the latest coming after winning the BMW Championship today at Cog Hill. He’s got a beautiful swing and a nice all-around game, but sometimes people win in spurts. Maybe this is the start of a strong end to 2011 for Rose.
2) Tiger Woods survived his own little problem and ended the week at 49th in the World Ranking and will make his own Chevron World Challenge in December. If he had fallen out of the Top 50 he might not have. Now the tournament can take a deep sigh of relief.
3) What a victory for 16-year old Lexi Thompson on the LPGA Tour today. The girl has all the talent in the world and now has secured her LPGA Tour card for 2012 at 16 years old! Kudos to her, and I have a feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from her as time goes on.
