The Washington Redskins took the game in the final minutes with a field goal and squeaked by the Cardinals 22-21. It was a rough start for Rex Grossman. In the 1st quarter he threw an interception at 3rd and goal then another one shortly after, although the not a direct interception as the pass was bobbled by Anthony Armstrong. The “Train Rex” was back but not for long. As part of Rex’s new outlook on football this season he’s learning to accept mistakes and move on. And he did.
Tim Hightower had a lot to prove against him former team and put up 96 yards running. Rookie Roy Helu also ran for 74 yards and would account for the Redskins win by dominating the clock. The Redskins only led 10-7 into the half but there were more opportunities to score. Brandon Banks had a great return with another 15 yards added for a facemask call, but the Skins could only attempt a field goal, which was blocked.
London Fletcher had a phenomenal game. He has never missed a game in his career and caused lots of pressure on Kolb and got an interception in the 3rd quarter. Arizona would take the lead in the 3rd 14-10, but in the 4th quarter they get a FG to bring them to within 1 point of the Cards 14-13, but Arizona strikes again with another TD 21-13. Grossman shoots back with 18 TD pass to Santana Moss. They are sitting at 19 points, so a 2 point would tie the game, however, they fail. 21-19 Arizona. At the 2 minute warning, the Redskins have the ball and are within FG distance. Gano kicks 34 yarder to take the lead 22-21. Arizona gets the ball back with 1:45 seconds remaining. Kolb’s pass to Stuckey is caught but fumbles and recovered by the Redskins. Game over.
Rex Grossman almost had another 300 yard game but was short by 9.

About the Author
Written by Mercedes Green
I lived in Greene County Virginia for about 5 years of my childhood. This span of time was enough to imprint the love of the Washington Redskins (and hate of the Dallas Cowboys) into my life forever, even though I am Canadian and still live in Canada. I am in no way an expert on sports, football, or even the Redskins, but I do absolutely adore them, their fans and their home state(s).
My favourite Redskin is and will always be Darrell Green (not because we share the same last name lol). I've adored Chris Cooley since he joined the team from the 2004 draft and love London Fletcher.
Hail to the Redskins! See you October 30th in my home town of Toronto.
