Tony Romo Played Through a Punctured Lung Sunday

For those fans out there that harped on Tony Romo when he was out for an injured pinky questioning his toughness, a moment of silence please for a tough man. On Sunday, in San Francisco Romo got hit on his blindside by corner Carlos Rogers. He went to the back got a shot to numb the pain, and went back in. Before you brush off the idea, consider how it would feel to have it hurt when you breathe and have to call out plays over a boisterous crowd followed by 250 lb linebackers and linemen hitting you right in the area of soreness. It’s not as overblown as some might think.
Had he lost the game, most people would have called it a dumb decision risking further injury. I’ll admit that that’s what I thought, and that I didn’t think he should have been out there playing. Turns out though, he brought them back in a game that would have been terrible ramifications for the rest of the team’s season, as most teams that start out 0-2 don’t make the playoffs.
He hopes to play this next Monday when Washington comes to Dallas, and it is yet to be determined if he will be capable of playing. I’d question whether one week is enough time to recover from the injury.
The jury will probably be out on Romo’s career until he retires or wins a Super Bowl. Which comes first is debatable for many. Whether you love him or hate him, you have to have respect him for his determination to play through that kind of injury. Kudos Romo.
