In Da Club by 50 Cent was rocking the bar scene; The Lord Of The Rings : Return of the King was making millions at the box office; Bills 2011 first round draft pick Marcell Dareus was 14 years old AND Buffalo beat New England 31-0 in week 1 of the 2003 season. That was the last time the Bills beat Patriots. It’s been 15 straight losses since. Ryan Fitzpatrick will look to snap that streak as he faces Tom Brady this Sunday.
Ok, so I realize that Tom Brady is lighting it up and he’s on pace to break every record in the book. I’m a little sick of hearing about it to be honest. It is only week 3 and the season is so young. So all those sports writers and forecasters, let’s take it down a notch and we’ll go back to Brady-mania if they go undefeated and win the Super Bowl. Before we crown New England the Gods of football they will have beat Buffalo and it might be a little harder than most people think. Why can’t the Bills beat the Patriots? Statistically, Buffalo has every chance to win this game, they are leading the league in scoring, rushing, and New England’s defense are giving up huge numbers; 479 yards per game with 381 of those from the air.
It’s hard to judge how this game will go, but I am not counting the Bills out and expect a close one. The Bills are on a roll, momentum can bring you far in this league and with Buffalo playing at home ,the Ralph could be the loudest it’s ever been. Buffalo could pull of the biggest upset of the season. There are less than a handful of players left from the 2003 roster but the others are aware of what this means to everyone, ”If we want to change things around here, this is where we’ve got to start,” Stevie Johnson said. “We know that they’re the team above, but we feel like we can go out there and beat these guys.”
I’ll just go with what the stats tell me, Bills 40 – 37 , finally breaking the streak. If not this week, I’m sure I’ll pick them to win January 1st when the play them again.
