The Houston Texans traveled to New Orleans to try to defeat the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Taxans’ quarterback Matt Schaub and the offense were able to get more more yards than Saints quarterback Drew Brees. They just could not score enough points to win the game in the 40-33 lost against the New Orleans Saints.
The game was very intense, and at first the Saints were playing like they did not want to win. When Schaub had a 73 yard passing on the Texans first drive, and his 32-yard completion to Johnson. His 14-yard pass over the middle to Owen Daniels who passed by Saints’ Roman Harper diving tackle, and resulted in a touchdown.
Schaub and the Houston offense was sent into the New Orleans 10 three more times after receiving the touchdown, but could never get another one. They went for the field goal all three times, which gave hope to the New Orleans Saints. The Texans definitely needed to score more than three points each time because the Saints’ offense was ready.
The lead was changed many of times during the second half of the game. The Saints’ had a huge play by Robert Meachem when he caught the 2-yard pass by Brees. Saints’ Greer snagged the ball, and that gave way for Lance Moore to get the 16-yard touchdown. The Texans took back the lead when Saints’ Jonathan Casillas missed the pass, and Texans’ Kevin Walter interception the ball and ran to the end zone.
The Saints were not giving up, and took the field again. They had eight plays covering 93 yards, and Mark Ingram scored the 13-yard winning touchdown. Brees was intercepted twice during the second half, but definitely made up for it with 370 passing yards and three touchdowns. The game was of course disappointing for the Houston Texans, but definitely not for the Saints. The Saints moved up to a 2-1 record, while the Texans are now 2-1 as well.
