Blame it on the RAIN

It wasn’t pretty, it wasn’t easy but somehow the Panthers managed to pull out a “W” against the Jaguars! I personally want to give the defense a pizza party for keeping the Panthers alive in this mud-slinging week 3 cat-clash. They pulled together after a tough week of injuries and changes to hold Jacksonville to just 10 points. From Greg Hardy’s first quarter safety to Charles Johnson’s sack on QB Blaine Gabbert the Panthers Defense showed up ready to win.

On the other hand…the Offense left a lot to be desired. Newton looked cold and inconsistent in his week 3 performance, passing for less than half of his two previous game day totals. But -Hey, we WON! The running game showed promise, Jonathan Stewart displayed why and how affective he is to team Panthers ability to run the ball and more importantly WIN GAMES! Although his most acrobatic play, to date, was called back Stewart continues to impress me with his run game.

I’m willing to give the offense the benefit of the doubt…I mean the field did look and react more like a Slip-N-Slide rather than an actual football field, and the heavy down pour made the pigskin less than desirable to handle. So I blame the rain for Cam only completing 18/34 attempts. When it mattered most he was able to connect with TE Greg Olsen for a 16 yard touchdown to win.

Not quite the storybook victory the Panthers anticipated but Coach Rivera and Team Panthers are pressing forward. Next week’s trip to Solider Field (My pick for game of the week) will require the Panthers to combine what has worked well these past 3 games and eliminate the mistakes and penalties to come home with a HUGE TRIUMPH over Julius (I- use-to-LOVE-my-Caroline-BLUE) Peppers and the NFC North division titleholders.

Jake Cutler has a chip on his shoulder and #90 has a personal vendetta for his former team.  *Sigh* Sure wish he was on our side of the defense. However, such is not the case. Peppers “can” be contained…and I will pick that analysis up SOon :-) —> until next time Congratulations to Team Panthers for a for a job wet done!
