The game was not pretty but the Dallas Cowboys on 6 field goals by Dan Bailey beat arch rival Washington Redskins 18-16 in last nights Monday nighter.
Yes the game was filled with errors, poorly thrown balls, dropped passes, bad snaps but now all we care about is the Dallas Cowboys are 2-1 and tied for first in the NFC east with the Redskins and NY Giants.
I know there are a many Tony Romo haters out there but for the Dallas Cowboys fans who are reading this how can you not say that Romo is starting to show a drive to win football games, play through injury and maybe start to show Dallas fans and the NFL he can be an elite QB in the NFL. I, in no way want to jump the gun and start throwing Dallas or Romo into the promised land but Romo showed grit last night and we’ll he did not have the best game of his career he did bring the Dallas Cowboys a win and with no touch downs he got the Cowboys deep enough to allow the 6 FG’s and bring a win to the Cowboys. That does create a problem in Dallas’ red-zone but lets save those comments for when Dallas loses and had no red-zone success, for now, lets savour the win in Dallas Cowboy Nation. For the record Romo had two injections last night and you could see he clearly was playing through pain and not sure if anyone else noticed the blood on his jersey but it was visable.
Turning points for the Cowboys and plays of the game have to go to Sean Lee, INT and fumble recovery to seal the deal with under a minute left in the game. Lee is starting to show off his talent as each game passes, quickness, agile and even has hands which is nice for a defensive player. The Dallas defense as a whole played a great game, created havoc for Redskin QB Grossman all night long which helped in Grossman throwing errant passes and fumbles. The Dallas offensive line created gaps for the Dallas running game and that showed well for RB Felix Jones who rushed for 115 yards and almost all of those yards were tough yards. Romo did not have the best game in the air but usual Jason Witten had some keys catches and the Romo scamper to Bryant was one of beauty for ’1st down Cowboys’.
Not sure who to give the game ball to but between the whole Dallas ‘D’, Sean Lee just on his own but I am going to give it to kicker Dan Bailey for his 6 FG’s and all the points the Cowboys got in the win. Bailey misses one of those FG’s and it is a whole different game and blog for that matter.
Still some bruises on the Cowboys side but hopefully time will heal and we will see as healthy a Cowboys team for week-4 when the 3-0 Detroit Lions come into town.
FYI’s—–Dallas’ 9th straight game decided by 3 points or less and Dallas is also 9-8 at new Cowboys stadium. Lets hope that trend continues.
as always comments, questions, concerns……see ya later in the week…..
