Dallas hosts yes the 3-0 Detroit Lions

Who would ever thought the Detroit Lions would be 3-0 so far this season?, I know not me but those football fans that do not know the Detroit Lions are getting better and better every year, almost every snap have been in a cave the last few years.

This Sunday we have the 2-1 Dallas Cowboys hosting the 3-0 Detroit Lions (2-0 on the road Detroit Lions).  Both teams are playing good football and both records show that improvement.  Most are going to say the Lions are the better team, more talent, less injuries etc etc etc, I do ask why than are the Cowboys the favorite?, hummmm, maybe because the Cowboys are no slouch out there and have also been playing some really good football and we’ll the Cowboys could be 0-3, they also could be 3-0 and have showed some great poise in winning their last two football games.

The Cowboys are a hurt bunch right now but that is not mentioned to make an excuse if the Cowboys are to lose the game but the facts are the facts and the Cowboys are walking wounded.  Dallas QB Tony Romo, hurt is expected to play along with WR Dez Bryant, RB Felix Jones, the one key player the Cowboys will likely be missing is WR Miles Austin and in his absence others will have to step it up.  The Cowboys will have to key in on not making the same mistakes that they did in the Washington win, missed snaps, snap counts, errant passes, dropped balls.  The key factor for the Cowboys is who is going to cover Lions WR Calvin Johnson (CB’s Newman / Jenkins) and keeping him in check and hopefully not allowing Johnson the long ball and scores which leads me to Lions QB Matthew Stafford who has thrown for 9 TD’s already this young season and getting more and more comfortable in throwing the deep ball and having such great confidence in Johnson to bring in the ball.   If the Dallas ‘D’ can contain Johnson, keep the pressure on Stafford than the Cowboys should come out victorious and I personally give Detroit a lot of credit but I like Dallas’ chances this week.  Keep an eye on of course the leader of the Dallas defense DeMarcus Ware and Sean Lee (NFC player of the month-September) who has been playing some of his best football so far this season.

Special teams—special teams, good field position and a short field will help the Cowboys bring them the win.  Congrats to Dan Bailey (NFC special teams player of the week-6 FG’s-lets hope that trend continues)

The ‘O’ line for the Cowboys has to give Romo time and just as important create gaps for the Dallas running game to hold the time of possession and keep the Lions offence off the field.

As in most football games this one will be close, it will be a good ole fashioned football game and my prediction is both teams leave Sunday at 3-1, go Cowboys….

as always comments, questions, concerns, my ears are ringing….

‘Stantsy’

—NB—-notice no comment on all the news about last weeks game that is still getting media attention as comments made by both Romo and the Washington Redskins.   Lets move on, week-4 is here….

The Cowboys are favored because no one wants to believe the Lions are for real but, you just keep dreaming of 3-1. But its the Lions who are going to show you who the better team REALLY is. And it isn’t the Cowboys LIONS 4-0

I am looking forward to watching this game I hope and seeing the Lions in action and how good they really are. If the Lions win, they will get credit for the win forsure but I am still banking on the Boys to play a solid game and come out victorious, thanks for the comment, look forward to you coming back soon.

I guess I would not expect any other comment than the one you just said Mercedes, Dallas and Washington hate each other and we would usually vote for whomever is playing against either’s team.

I think the only persons Dallas has to worry about it Johnson and Stafford and if the defense can contain those two than I am confident we will see a Dallas victory but with that being said, it will not be easy to contain those two but I do believe it will be close….thanks for the comment….

I am a die-hard Lions fan, so I am sure my opinion is skewed and biased, but I do believe the Lions will win. Based on what I have seen this season, the Lions are having some trouble with end-arounds and runs to the outside, but they stuff the middle quite well. Felix Jones isn’t that great. The only places we were exposed there were against Adrienne Peterson and Jamaal Charles, 2 of the elite RBs in the league. That said, I don’t think Javid Best is that great either, but I think he has the edge in receiver skills. Furthermore, Romo is gonna be laying on his back a lot. I just hope he doesn’t risk getting some life-threatening injury because he wants to prove he is tough. We know he is tough, but there should be a point where you concede. I see him getting sacked, hit, and hurried a LOT against the Lions front line. I do believe they are going to go after him and try to put him out of the game. I just hope he is OK after that happens. I’m not a fan of the Cowboys or of Romo, but I don’t wanna see someone die either, which I think is possible with a broken rib and a recently punctured lung! Based on the last bunch of Cowboys games, this is going to be close, but which Lions team do you face? The one that was losing to the Vikings because the coaching staff kept trying to run the ball in the first half? The team that blew out the Chiefs and help them to one fieldgoal? Or the team that runs away with the game only to play PREVENT D and almost throw it away towards the end? I’m hoping for blowout, but Sunday will tell us the whole story.

I’m not a Lions fans but I do like to root for underdogs. I’m also a Dallas-hater because I’m an Eagles fan AND I despise Tony Romo so I want to see Suh and Co flatten Romo and stomp the Cowgirls as completely and exhaustively as possible

thanks for the comment goodz, of course as the Cowboy blogger I will be rooting for the Boys and I appreciate you do not want to see any player whether you like them or not get hurt badly, I agree with you totally on that. With that being said, I believe both teams have some similarities and the game will be close, I know it is a new Lions team but one stat is the Cowboys are 8-2 against the Lions at home the last 10 times they have played and I am still confident the Cowboys can get it done and both teams will be 3-1 come Monday, good luck…..come back soon….
