Every week we find ourselves setting our lineups and trying to find the best possible starters to lead our fantasy teams to victory. There are some Tuesdays I wake up and celebrate the fact that I am a stud and chose my players wisely! Then there are other Tuesdays when I am in the worst mood because the players I loved and thought would put up big numbers, turned out to be duds. I receive text messages from my fellow league opponents bragging and harassing me before I can even start my day. So, for your own sake I am going to give you the players I love and the players I hate this week so that you do not receive these messages from your friends about putting in a dud instead of a stud!
What’s not to like about his matchup. New England is giving up 326.6 yards a game through the air!!!! COME ON NOW! They are dead last in the league in passing yards allowed. They have given up 9 touchdowns, 79 first downs, 32 20+ yard plays, and a 65.5% completion rating to opposing quarterbacks. Tony Romo needs to bounce back in this game and lead his Cowboys to victory. Prediction- 315 yards, 3 TD 1 INT
GIANTS! GIANTS! GIANTS! What happened last week? Lost to the Seattle Seahawks!? Time for a bounce back win for New York. Brandon Jacobs hasn’t returned to practice yet because of a lingering sprained MCL. Last week with Jacobs out, Bradshaw took the most carries he’s had in 2011 so far with 17. Bradshaw is going up against the Buffalo Bills, who have given up 138.4 ypg, 5 touchdowns and a whopping 5.5 ypc average to opposing running backs. This bodes well for the running giant. If Cedric Benson can run for 104 yards on the Bills, then I am going all in on Bradshaw! Prediction- 110 yards rushing, 25 receiving, 1 TD
Any of the Dallas Wide Receivers/Tight End
As mentioned above, New England possesses the most horrendous secondary in the league. With Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and Jason Witten to throw to, I am not sure how New England can contain all of them. Romo will be having a field day and so will these Receivers. They have given up four 100 yard receivers on the season which includes Vincent Jackson’s 172 yard, 2 TD performance in week 2. Yes they are playing at New England, but that makes no difference to me. Prediction- Miles Austin: 6 rec. 95 yards 1 TD, Dez Bryant: 7 rec. 115 yards, Jason Witten: 9 rec. 80 yards 2 TDs
Minnesota Vikings Defense
I am a die hard Chicago Bears fan, but unfortunately, I will have to go against them on this one. Minnesota is 2nd in the league in sacks with 16. So lets be serious! Chicago Bears have one of the worst offensive lines which has given up 18 sacks and 31 QB hits! The Vikings are going to be rushing in all day which will cause Jay Culter to hurry his throws and make mistakes. Oh Yeah, it also doesn’t help that Cutler has been sacked at least once in 27 straight games which is an NFL record! Play this defense if you have them. Prediction- 4 sacks, 1 INT, 17 pts allowed
Carolina doesn’t have the best secondary, or is this matchup scary in any way. They give up 231 ypg through the air and have given up 7 passing touchdowns and a 64% completion rating. What I hate is the fact that Atlanta has a bowling ball named Michael Turner. Matt Forte ran for over 200 yards with a terrible offensive line on the Panthers. The Falcons are going to take the same approach and run Carolina into the ground. I feel that Atlanta will have control of this game and will run 70% of the time, which will limit Ryan’s pass attempts. Prediction- 240 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
Yes I know he is a stud and a 1st round pick! Am I telling you to bench him? No I’m not. But I don’t like his matchup this week going against a Baltimore Ravens defense. They give up 72.5 ypg, a lowly 3.2 ypc average and only 1 touchdown on the season. Houston has downgraded in the passing game with Andre Johnson out, so the focus will be on Arian Foster running the ball. The Ravens will dare Schaub to throw it and when he does, it won’t be pretty. Baltimore gives up a 52.7% completion rating, have snagged 6 INT’s and have surrendered only 79 completed passes on the season. Prediction- 85 total yards
#1 Wr on the Miami Dolphins. Great size, good hands, big target. What’s wrong? Wait, they don’t have a Quarterback AND they are going against a Jets secondary? The Jets are only giving up 218 ypg through the air and only 3 receiving touchdowns. Brandon Marshall is a good WR, but what can he do with Matt Moore? I know the Patriots had a huge game through the air against the Jets, but they also had Tom Brady launching passes to the likes of Welker, Branch, Gronkowski and Hernandez. Prediction- 5 rec. 60 yards
San Francisco Defense
San Francisco is 23rd in the league giving up 264.4 yards a game through the air. Yes they have a stellar rush defense, but so do the Bears…HA! But really, with Calvin Johnson on the field and Mathew Stafford throwing, the Lions are going to continue their undefeated season and put up some numbers, mostly through the air. The 49ers’ defense is all about speed and they have done well this season. In week five, the San Francisco 49ers made a huge statement by pounding Tampa Bay. But this is no Tampa Bay offense. Detroit Lions are going to bring the 49ers back down to Earth. Prediction- Lions 31, 49ers 10
