“To accomplish something that hasn’t been done since 1966 (starting 6-0) certainly speaks volumes to those guys. We celebrated for the day and then we get back to work.”
This was the opening statement from Head Coach Paul Johnson during his weekly Tuesday press conference.
The Yellow Jackets most recent victory came against Maryland. While they did win, it was their lowest scoring game thus far.
They held Maryland to a mere three points until the fourth quarter. The Terrapins got some good opportunities and the Yellow Jackets did not fight hard enough against them. The final score was 21-16.
Georgia Tech’s next game will be against the University of Virginia Cavaliers. This game will be the Cavaliers’ first in two weeks.
They hosted Idaho and came away with a 21-20 point victory in overtime, putting their current record at 3-2.
In his conference, Johnson said, “Going up to Charlottesville is always a challenge, [it's a] tough place to play. They’re 3-2 this season, but I think their two losses have come to two teams that are a combined 10 and 2. It’ll be a tough game. Defensively, they’re in the top 25 in the country. They’re in the top part of the conference in most every stat. Offensively, they have a big, physical offensive line. They are a challenge for all phases of our football team.”
Georgia Tech travels to Charlottesville for this match on Saturday, October 15th. Tis game can be viewed on ESPNU and is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm EST.
