Angels close to decision on their new GM. Or are they?

I felt a true sigh of relief when I heard Bill Stoneman was in charge of finding the Angels next General Manager. I’m sure he’ll waver on his decision, eventually being unable to pull the trigger.

Good to see the Vernon Wells effect has cost at least 3 Halo executives their jobs. I promise you that if Wells hit 280, with 25 and 90, there would have been no change in the executive hierarchy. No clutch hitting, consistent strike outs, lackadaisical attitude, and owed 63 million. Even in the offseason, Wells continues to drag down the team

It doesn’t help that every time you turn on the TV, Mike Napoli is cranking another home run, or key base hit. He has also learned how to catch. Watched him throw out Austin Jackson the other night by about 2 feet. Why was he dealt again?

Like Dancing with the Stars, which employs no actual stars, MLB All-Star teams are sometimes a joke. Take the all-star team that is being sent to Taiwan. Miguel Cabrera, Robinson Cano and Curtis Granderson are legitimate all-stars. I can also accept Erick Aybar and Pablo Sandoval. I cannot accept Jeff Mathis and Drew Butera as all-stars. I am sure they are all-star human beings, but they shouldn’t be playing on a team that is supposed to be representing MLB’s best.

Honestly, if those 2 can go, then why not just send Mark Melancon, Bill Bray and Ross Detwiler. Oops, they did. Have fun Taiwanese fans.

So we got to see Garrett Richards and Tyler Chatwood, why didn’t we see Matt Shoemaker? Shoemaker made quite an impression this year, so much so that he was named minors pitcher of the year. Shoemaker may not light up the radar gun, but still won 12 games with a 2.45 ERA in Arkansas. I have heard my entire life that it’s not how hard you throw, it’s about location. I guess it is about how hard you throw, or Shoemaker would have made a start or two with the big club. Arkansas was just a little rock away–or is it a stone throw away? I guarantee you’ll see him in February.

1 more Texas win and we can all watch Napoli play in the World Series. Good times. Do you think Wells will watch?

Go Angels!
