I’ve said it about fantasy players before, and I’ll say it again, some are just walking injuries. Felix Jones is no different. After playing through a separated shoulder, Jones suffered a high ankle sprain that will keep him out at least a few games, but could be out as long as a month and a half. That puts DeMarco Murray atop Week 7 waivers.
DeMarco Murray – It was DeMarco Murray who took the bulk of the carries, not Tashard Choice, when Felix Jones went down this Sunday. One of the things the Cowboys like about Murray is that he is a good pass blocker for a rookie, which is something that Choice has never really improved on during his tenure. Murray has Felix speed, good hands, and is a good blocker which is likely to be why the Cowboys will turn to him for the majority of touches. With a favorable match up against the Rams next week, Murray is a must add. Available in 92% of leagues currently. Hottest pick up right now.
Montario Hardesty – Hardesty had already been siphoning away carries from an under producing Peyton Hillis, but with Hillis suffering a mild hamstring pull, Hardesty could be looking at another game with a full work load for at least one week. This would make him a decent spot start against the Seahawks in week 7. Available in 83% of leagues.
Jackie Battle – He is still on a lot of waivers, and the Chiefs plan to use him as a feature back. He runs with power which is a boon for a struggling defense. He’s still best as a spot start until he proves otherwise, but he is worth rostering in all leagues. Available still, in 67% of leagues currently.
Demaryius Thomas – With the Brandon Lloyd trade going through, the door is now open for Thomas to take the number 2 wide out position. He has the talent to be the WR1 in Denver, as Eric Decker lacks the home run speed of Thomas, but has had trouble staying healthy. Worth an add and stash. Available in 99% of leagues currently.
Greg Little – After being promoted to the starting line up, Little pulled in 6 catches for 72 yards. Not a bad play for a Browns receiver. Worth a BYE week filler against a shaky Seattle secondary next week. Available in 84% of leagues currently.
Jerome Harrison/ Maurice Morris – With Jahvid Best suffering a concussion against the 49ers, someone will need to fill the gap for at least 1 week. It’s a very murky situation in Detroit, where Morris got the majority of touches when Best went out, but Harrison was inactive for the game (not due to injury). Harrison fills the role of Jahvid Best better than Morris. He is quicker and has better hands, but the fact that he was inactive without injury is a yellow flag. It may be better to wait until the situation unfolds before choosing one guy, and the Lions may choose to just work a rotation which would also involve Keiland Williams on the goal line. Available in 93% / 99% of leagues.
Some other players I mentioned before who are still out there: Steve Breaston (available in 78% of leagues), Tim Tebow (available in 54% of leagues), Earnest Graham ( available in 47% of leagues), and Donald Brown (available in 95% of leagues) who looked like a better back than Delone Carter this week.
Quarterbacks David Garrard, Carson Palmer, and Christian Ponder should all be flagged, due in part to injuries or possible trades.
