Autumn is in full bloom. The weather is cooling off, the leaves have many beautiful colors, the holiday season is starting to take shape and it’s the time of year when America’s favorite sports (MLB, NFL,
NBA) all happily collide. Usually basketball season ushers in a new World Series Champion, but due to lack of Lock-Out agreement the NFL has the honor of bridging the seasonal transition. *SIGH* LOVE-IS-IN-THE-AIR!
Some things are easy to love this time of year. Team Panthers do NOT make that list. Unfortunately for the Panthers their current record is exactly the same as it was this time last season…1&5 /4th in NFC south/not looking like a team going to the Play-Offs. The difference in the two is the changes and upgrades Carolina made to NOT be in this position. The League and Team’s number one draft pick, Cam Newton, has impressed his fans and critics with mind-boggling Rookie numbers, but that fact hasn’t converted into many team victories.
The acquisition of Jeremy Shockey combined with the seasonings of veteran Panther greats like Steve Smith, DeAngelo Williams and (personal fav) Jonathan Stewart the Carolina offense has the recipe for success, but somehow they leave out (different)game winning ingredients every week and end up with cat-chow. Plus the Defensive line has suffered weekly changes and key season losses, which makes it hard to establish an on-field presence. <—Not an excuse!
This Sunday Team Panthers host the Washington Redskins Uptown Charlotte at the Bank of America Stadium. The Skins look to bounce back from their lost to the Eagles, but as their road tour heads to the Carolinas team Panthers want to send them home with another road defeat. Expect the Panthers offense to play to the home crowd and showcase all their receiving/rushing play options and delight.
The Redskins aren’t gonna hand the game to the Panthers and play nice just because Carolina needs to win they will play hard-ball and run their game to improve their division standings. Chris Cooley is questionable for Sunday’s game, but with recent changes to their offense (i.e. QB modifications) the Skins better their chance at beating the Panthers. With Newton throwing 9 interceptions in 6 games (THAT’s MORE PICKS THAN GAMES PLAYED!!!) is easy to understand what/why/how the Panthers continue to have the same result week after week. Also it helps the Redskins Defense increase their chances of victory.
All the blame can’t be placed on the nine picks. The Panthers defense is handing out yards like Halloween candy. With one team to beat for last in the league’s defense the Panthers have to find a way to force turnovers (consistently) and stop their opponents from scoring. The last time these two teams meet, (back in ‘09) the Panthers won by 3. Quite a bite has changed for both teams since that season, with that said Team Panthers walks away with the WIN for this game.
