Saturday’s game in Miami, put added another loss to Georgia Tech’s record for the season. They are now 6-2 as Miami defeated them 24-7.
After the game, Coach Paul Johnson commented, “I thought our kids played hard. I am frustrated that we couldn’t find something to do better on offense, clearly they had a better plan than we did, because we couldn’t get any rhythm, couldn’t get anything going. We couldn’t hit any good plays. We couldn’t overcome the special teams that we had today, and that is a reflection on me.”
This was Georgia Tech’s lowest scoring game of the season, with the only touchdown coming in the second quarter.
Looking at the stats from this game, there aren’t many differences between the two teams. Losing by 17 points, it’s hard to believe that the stats are so close.
An equal amount of first downs, a larger amount of rushing yards, nearly equal possession time and more third down conversions. The Yellow Jackets weren’t brutally beaten, they simply couldn’t score.
Johnson says, “After looking at the film, I thought we had a chance, and I think we did have a chance, we just didn’t get it done. We can’t get to the perimeter. I don’t think we would have a tough time in the perimeter, but we just can’t get there.”
Hopefully the Yellow Jackets can figure out their problems, work them out and win some more games.
Their next game is scheduled for October 29th at 8pm in Atlanta, Ga against Clemson.
