Fantasy Week 8 Waivers

More injuries to talk about as the season rolls on. First off, Tim Hightower suffered a torn ACL this Sunday, despite Hightower’s suggestions to the contrary. Fellow Redskins teammate, Santana Moss, suffered a fractured hand and will miss 5-7 weeks. Beanie Wells suffered an unknown, as of yet, knee injury that has Cardinals staff and fantasy owners spooked. No news as of yet, but all signs are pointing to Wells missing at least the next game against the Ravens. Darren McFadden suffered an ankle injury, as did most owners who were probably jumping up and down after watching McFadden standing on the sidelines in full gear but never entering back into the game. Most indications suggest that McFadden will be fine after the BYE week which comes at the best possible time for any McFadden owners. Lastly, Matthew Stafford suffered an undisclosed ankle/leg injury late in the game against the Falcons. As of now Jim Schwartz is suggesting that Stafford will be fine for next week, but owners may do well to have a back up plan in the event that Stafford cannot go.
Real quick, DeMarco Murray is still available in 42% of leagues and is a must add this week as he is running strong, but remember that the situation gets a little foggy when Felix Jones gets healthy. Okay, let’s see who’s hot on the Waivers.
Ryan Torain – For some owners who had already jumped on Torain, only to see Mike Shanahan stubbornly run Tim Hightower, you get a second chance. With Hightower’s season over, Torain will assume the lead back role barring any more unforeseen Shahanigans. Available in 43% of leagues currently.
Knowshon Moreno – Willis McGahee has fractured finger and will be out for at least 2 weeks. This leaves Moreno as the likely starter for the next few weeks. Moreno may be a better fit for the style of football that Tebow plays in a similar way that LeSean McCoy is better with Michael Vick, but on a much smaller scale as he clearly isn’t on McCoy’s talent level. Moreno is a best grabbed as a BYE week filler or a stash to see if he takes to his second chance. Available in 43% of leagues currently.
Antonio Brown – When Hines Ward went down with what turned out to be an ankle sprain, Brown took his opportunity to fill in and ran with it. He grabbed 7 catches for 102 yards. The Steelers have looked better when Ward was not out on the field it’s unfortunate to say, and the coaches may have come to terms with it. Brown clearly a more explosive player and good option opposite of star receiver Mike Wallace. Available in 70% of leagues currently.
Demaryius Thomas – He only put up 3 receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown, but Thomas was targeted by Tim Tebow 10 times. Thomas has the speed to be the deep threat that Brandon Lloyd was last season, and even if the Tebow struggles to complete passes, Thomas could be be on the receiving end of most of them if continues to be the case which makes him a valuable stash. Available in 91% of leagues currently.
Visanthe Shiancoe – With Christian Ponder in Shiancoe saw 8 targets and will be likely to continue that trend. Rookie QBs love to target their tight ends and with Percy Harvin a question mark for next week, Shiancoe will draw more value. Available in 81% of leagues currently.
Pierre Thomas – Mark Ingram has a “bruised” heel and could be out for next week. That would hopefully increase the workload of Pierre Thomas. Though in the end he will still be splitting time with a dynamic Darren Sproles, Thomas would be worth a play against a stumbling Rams run defense. Available in 49% of leagues currently.
Bernard Scott – If your an owner of Cedric Benson, you should have Bernard Scott as your handcuff, unless you have better depth to fill his spot this week. Scott will be a decent spot start, but gets an undesirable match up with the Seahawks. He has also averaged 2.8 YPC this year. You may be able to do better. Available in 88% of leagues currently.
