It’s hard to believe that the Carolina Panthers are only 2&5 on the season when the Panthers are putting up offensive numbers that should have them at more like…5&2 better yet 6&1!!! There are few (none) games that the Panthers have not been close to beating their opponent, factor in penalties/rookie mistakes/miss-Qs/lack of defense and it comes down to team Panthers beating themselves…with the exception of their two WINS. So this week it will be interesting to see which Carolina team shows up to take-on the Minnesota Vikings.
The Team Win Panthers will have to execute their game very similar to how they played last week…minus the 100+ penalty yards and lack of defensive presence. Newton will have to take care of the ball and the offense will have to take care of Newton because the Vikings Defense is all about not allowing big rushing yards and stopping 3rd-Down Conversions.
Minnesota will look to exploit the Panthers on Defense with Adrian Peterson burning through rushing yards. And with the Vikings Rookie QB to start they will need all the “help” they can get. The Carolina D will have to be more aggressive at stopping 3rd down conversions and halting the number of rushing (and passing) yards allowed to win this math-up. Both teams are holding the bottom slot in their respective conferences (Neither conference is a cake-walk).
Newton will have to improve his passing TD record and minimize his interception ratio to keep the Panther (one-game) winning streak alive. Carolina is in the league top 5 in yards per touch and total offense per game…sadly that hasn’t translated into many wins. The Viking look to improve on their record with such disappointing numbers from McNabb thus far in the season, Minnesota is looking to sail their Viking ship with rookie QB Ponder starting on Sunday.
