Top 10 Montreal Canadiens Halloween Costumes

A customary NHL tradition around this time of year is for NHL teams to have their own Halloween parties. Seeing as players have gone through a rigorous training camp and are now almost 10 games into the season, having a bit of fun away from the rink is a great way for the players to unwind and relax.

Despite a bad start to the 2011-12 season, the Habs organization debated whether or not the players deserved to be rewarded, but in the end they decided that it was important to honor this tradition especially given the fragile state of the team. Here are the Top 10 Montreal Canadiens Halloween Costumes, as seen at the Habs party.

10 – The team paid a large sum of money to a bouncer, but because of the secret location he didn’t have to work at all. It was only fitting that he was wearing an Andrei Markov jersey.

9 – When asked about his donut costume (he never wore that in Carolina), Erik Cole said “I need to get used to not having a center anymore”

8 – The Habs party was on the roof of a hotel, which was clearly not safe considering Max Pacioretty fell off, landed head first on the street and got run over by a car. Players were very surprised that it took him more than 10 minutes to return.

7– Scott Gomez asked his teammates what he should wear, but didn’t understand why they all kept saying “it would be really funny if you dressed up as a Bulldog”

6 – Andrei Kostitsyn dressed up as a ghost. He took it to a new level, though, by showing up for an hour, disappearing for the next 3, and then showing up again.

5 – Pierre Gauthier almost ruined the party when he showed up to announce that in an effort to improve the team, the assistant water boy has been fired.

4 – Half the players thought Alexei Emelin [1]’s sumo wrestler costume was fantastic, while the other half claimed that Emelin forgot to wear a costume.

3 – Tomas Plekanec ended up drinking way too much at the party. Players later agreed that it was not a good idea to have asked Carey Price to stop Plekanec’s shots.

2 – There was some awkward confusion when the Habs players complimented Perry Pearn on his waiter costume [2], and his response was “I’m actually here to bus tables.”

1 – Jacques Martin was serving drinks to his players as a way to bond with them. However, it was very noticeable that every time he made one for Mathieu Darche, he gave him way too much ice.
