Dallas fails football 101 in Philly…

I guess it was the game that wasn’t meant to be.  The now 3-4 Dallas Cowboys went into Philadelphia and got taught a lesson in a loss to the now also 3-4 Philadelphia Eagles 34-7.

This game was never close from the get-go and really to be honest with you only one team showed up to play last night and that was not the Dallas Cowboys folks.

Philly showed up, played the hype and I don’t want to say it but maybe played to that ‘dream team’ hype everyone was speaking of them prior to the start of the season.

The Dallas Cowboys number 1 against the run allowed LeSean McCoy 30 carries for 185 yards which is very unlike Dallas so far this year but I guess when you are getting taught a lesson on how to play football the right way, it shows in all aspects of the game.  Dallas gave up 495 total yards and lost the time of possession 42:09, that is a crazy stat I had to share with you readers.  I don’t remember the last time Dallas gave up TOP like that.

The only positive I can bring from the game last night was Dallas’ DeMarcus Ware did have 4 sacks to up his league lead in that category.    I guess when you spend 42 minutes on the field as a defensive player did last night for the Cowboys you are bound to get some sacks.   Rookie running back DeMarco Murray did show some signs of last weeks great game but when you are running uphill like the Cowboys were last night as of the end of the 1st quarter, it was evident Murray would not run the ball as much and allow Romo and company to pass the ball and try to get some quick points on the board and we all know that did not happen either which adds to the agony of the final result in this game.

Both teams as noted above move to 3-4 and it now looks like the Cowboys are on the outside looking in.  Outside of the New York ‘football’ Giants who sit at 5-2, everyone else sits at 3-4 in the NFC East.  I will say it right now but I do not see the Giants winning the NFC East and I also do not see the Washington Redskins winning it either so that leaves the Cowboys and Eagles the opportunity to step to the plate and win football games and win the NFC East.  I know easier said than done.

Sean Lee left last nights game also with a wrist injury and hopefully we will have further updates on the severity of the injury and whether Lee can play this week.  Certainly Lee has been one of the bright sparks to the Dallas defense this season and would be missed if the injury is worse than we want it to be.   Lee was quoted “I am hoping I can play next week”.  We will also be checking in on the status of the kicking situation in Dallas with the injury to punter Mat McBriar.

Dallas defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is willing to take the blunt of the blame for the poor performance which I think is a little extreme, Philly came prepared and clearly the Cowboys did not does not matter whatever Ryan said during the summer about the ‘dream team’ comments.

Last note and that is whomever the NFL schedules to play against any team Andy Reid Coaches will not be happy as Reid is now 13-0 after a bye week so the Cowboys can thank the NFL for the great match-up last night because it was only the Eagles that showed up to play.

as always ‘comments’ ‘questions’ ‘concerns’
