Cowboys Offense Coming Together

It was somewhat reminiscent of the Super Bowl wins for the Cowboys if in nothing but the fact that it was a rout. However, making any other comparisons of either teams to those in the Super Bowl is probably an overstatement. It was a game that the Cowboys needed in many ways. Getting a win over a team with a winning record and putting themselves over .500 will give a great boost of momentum that the team will need to build on as they continue through the softest part of this season’s schedule. Jerry Jones may have put it best saying, “”I think that’s as good as we played against a team that’s credible.”
The Cowboys seem to be finally getting some rhythm with a more balanced offense, and Tony Romo looks to be benefiting the most. The respect that teams are beginning to pay the run game is allowing more time for Romo to find his open receivers an get the ball down the field. He clearly looked more comfortable on the field Sunday than he has in many weeks. Murray has also helped open up the receivers with defenses now having to account for him have to lessen their double teaming of Dallas’ wide outs.
It can be argued that Murray makes the Cowboys the complete offense like the one they once had in the days of the Triplets, though it has yet to be seen if they can reach the heights of their predecessors of the 90s. Murray has shown the ability to be more than a feature back, but a do-it-all back which is a rarity in game presently.
The team is also benefiting from the play of Laurent Robinson who is playing the role of Miles Austin from a few years back by getting a shot at a starting job and playing at a high level with that opportunity. Robinson had 3 catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
The defense also did a great job of cutting off the deep routes and only allowing 1 play over 20 yards. The Bills were only able to convert 2 of 7 third downs and were held to 271 total yards.
The team will have to continue to play strong during the next 3 weeks where they will face a reeling Redskins team, followed by a 2 win Dolphins team, and a suspect Cardinals team if they are going to have any chance at competing for a playoff berth which could come down to the last week of the season.
