The Green Bay Packers are undefeated and a big favorite to win both the NFC and the Super Bowl. On the other hand, the Minnesota Vikings are 2-6 and just hoping that their new QB, Christian Ponder, continues to progress and that their stadium issue is resolved shortly. The two teams meet tonight in Wisconsin and the game will certainly be more entertaining that stats would suggest.
Over the past twenty years the Vikings/Packers rivalry has been the fiercest that the NFC North has had to offer, and one of the best in the NFL. During that time these two teams have won 13 out of the 20 division titles, and if they weren’t winning the division, they were fighting for a playoff spot. Tonight these two teams meet while on different paths, but it doesn’t matter. This game will be close. The 13-point line is an aberration. Yes, the Packers can score, but their defense has been very suspect and all it will take is one big hit/sack/fumble on Aaron Rodgers to tilt this contest in favor of the Vikings.
Jared Allen is having the best season of his career, and it might wind up being one of the best ever by a defensive lineman. He is one of the two biggest factors for the Vikings tonight. Adrian Peterson is the other. AD rushed for 175 yards against the Pack a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t enough. I expect Peterson to have another big game, but for the Vikings to win they will have to have some big catches from the likes of Visanthe Shiancoe and Percy Harvin. Christian Ponder has performed better than expected, but these two receivers are key to him having success against Green Bay.
The ingredients are simple, but this recipe always seems to stray. I expect something weird to happen in this game, but I have no idea what that will be. One thing is certain though, the hits will be hard. If you are watching the game live, you will get to hear plenty of pads crackin’. So do I have a prediction for this game? “Pain”- Clubber Lang.
