As the Ottawa Senators Have been struggling of late loosing 5 of the last 6 games to eastern conference team. The team has been showing what potential they can offer, even though despite the recent loosing streak that has over taken them.
Saturday nights game vs the Toronto Maple Leafs, was just what the boys needed it seemed, playing in the spotlight of “Hockey Night in Canada” aired Nation wide every Saturday night coast to coast. The Sens had a rough start in the 1st period, trailing the leafs after the 1st period.
The Never back down Senators continued their story once again,Scoring twice in the 2nd and twice again in the 3rd ,they bounced back strongly and left the maple leafs fans booing the home team.
A bright spot after a bad start this season with fan ripping him hard for his lack of commitment and bad play, Sergei Gonchar scored a PP goal in the 2nd which got the The New kids on the block going. Gonchar’s 2nd of the season and has notch 9 points this season and is 2nd among Ottawa Defense in scoring. Zack smith who scored his 3rd of the year on Saturday, has showed great poise this season thus far, is becoming a fan favorite.
To the West coast they Go, The Sens travel to western Canada who have dates with the Flames, Oilers and Canucks. 1-1 ties in the 3rd period last Tuesday night in Calgary, when Bobby Butler hopefully came out of his slump, The rookie scoring over 10 goals in a short season last year with the big club has expected to contribute on a nightly scheduled, but that just isn’t the case. Butler scoring twice in the 3rd lifting the Sens to a 3-1 win. Now on to the Oilers tonight, both teams in the middle of their rebuild stages. Should be a doosy!
