Still Motivated, Georgia Tech Travels to Duke

After a loss to Virginia tech last week, Georgia Tech is no longer a contender for the ACC Division Championship, but they continue to prepare to get on the road to North Carolina to face the Duke Blue Devils.
During his weekly conference, Head Coach Paul Johnson commented on last week’s game saying, “It’s good to be back practicing after a disappointing game last Thursday night. I thought that we had our chances; we just didn’t get it done. […]But we have to put it behind us and move forward.”
He proceeded to talk about the upcoming game with Duke, “We have to go up to Duke, which is a pretty tough place to go play. I think Duke’s an improved team. […]So we’ll see how we bounce back and see if we can go play one of our better games and take care of business.”
The Yellow jackets still have motivations for winning as they go into Saturday’s game. They have not loss to the Blue Devils since their match up in 2003 and this game would also ensure that they finish the season above .500, giving them at least eight overall wins for three of the past four seasons under Paul Johnson. A win Saturday would also end their losing streak on the road.
Georgia Tech and Duke have quite a history behind them, stretching all the way back to December 2, 1933. Georgia Tech’s overall record against Duke is 47-30-1. Georgia Tech has won the past seven meetings and 15 of the past 16 with the only loss being at Duke in 2003. When playing at Duke they are 20-18, but they are 3-0 under Johnson. Johnson is 7-1 overall against Duke with his loss being in 2002 during his first season at Navy.
Saturday’s game should be an interesting one. Tune in to the ACC Network to watch the game live at 12:30 pm EST.
