Here are my observations from the Presidents Cup:
1) Tiger Woods is finally, officially, back. He hit 17 of 18 greens in his Saturday afternoon match with Dustin Johnson. And he finally made the putts on Sunday and shot -5 in singles, the best of anyone on either team. Watch out for 2012, Tiger Woods is back.
2) Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson are a pairing that will work for many years for the United States. I hope Tom Lehman was watching because that could be a deadly Ryder Cup pairing.
3) Fred Couples is a perfect captain. Laid back, doesn’t overthink things, and just lets the players play. Greg Norman cared way too much, had the bad pick in Robert Allenby, and it just didn’t work out for him.
4) Golf fans were the big winners. Live in primetime all four days on Golf Channel — thanks to the NBC Sports guys for making it all work because that was fantastic.
