Shake Your Tail Feather

Well, hot diggity dog.
Michael Turner was on fire. Roddy White was on fire. Matt Ryan had a 316 yard performance, proving that he is still very much the man whose cold, calculated play earned him the nickname, “Matty Ice”.
There were a myriad of things to get excited about after watching the Falcons pull out a 23-17 victory against the Titans.
Tony G capped off a five play, 56 yard drive with a touchdown early in the first quarter that would set the tone for the Ryan-led no huddle offense. The tight end would pass the 13,000 yard mark and end the night with six catches and 74 yards, but All-Pro receiver Roddy White would steal the show as far as good hands plays were concerned.
After having a disappointing first half of the season and leading the league in dropped passes (with nine), it was about time that White got his act together. He would have a season high seven receptions and 147 yards and play a crucial role in the Falcons muscling their way past the Titans.
Tony, Roddy and Matty all bringing their A-game Sunday was something we hoped for, but didn’t necessarily expect. Other things have become more customary. Michael Turner having a 100-yard game? Two words- Book it.
All things considered, the most pleasantly surprising of all things Atlanta did against Tennessee was show a resiliency that frankly just hasn’t been there.
As I watched Jake Locker start grinding away in the third, I couldn’t help but feel eerily similar to when I first saw the movie, Jaws and heard “dun-dun-dun-dun”. Oh no, not again.
But then the Falcons went and did something they haven’t done at all this year…they fought back.
Granted it’s impossible not to literally see red when Atlanta’s in the red zone and their defense is at times softer than the Snuggle bear, Mike Smith’s squad played more complete a game than they have all season.
Oh yeah, and we’re 6-4 going into a (cross-your-fingers) game next week against a Peterson-less Vikings team.
I say we take a moment and enjoy this one…
