The Buffalo Bills might not be mathematically eliminated from the playoffs but we all know it’s over for another year .(Maybe not says my wife). Losing 28-24 to the New York Jets more than likely ended the chances of the Bills extending their season. The Bills now fall to 5-6, and with more than a handful of teams ahead of them in the wildcard race and most of them holding the tiebreaker, it is another season of hope turned to disappointment.
Could the Bills have done more if they were healthy? Who knows and really who cares anymore. All I know is that it’s another year, with another excuse I can concoct in my head to make things o.k. At least I can go on with the rest of the year not hoping for something that was never there. They can win out and finish 10-6 and we’ll go into next season with great expectations but not for this fan anymore. You can come up with all these slogans like ‘Lead The Charge’, ‘Billieve’ and ‘December Charge’, but these are just words to cling onto to make you believe this team is something they are not.
What needs changing? They did enough to win the game today, the defense played well, the offense had a chance to win but ultimately they didn’t and that’s what needs changing. Good teams win and bad teams find ways of losing. Buffalo surely looked like a team that belonged with the upper echelon of the NFL but they now belong in the same breath with teams like Carolina, Cleveland , St.Louis and Jacksonville.
Next week Buffalo plays… Tennessee I think. I’m so down on these Bills that it doesn’t matter. The only thing I’m looking forward too is watching New England lose in the playoffs, but what can I say, at least they make it there.
With all that said, let’s try and get Fred Jackson to the Pro Bowl, vote for him here. He surely deserves it.
P.S. My wife thinks I am over reacting and is still on the Bills Bandwagon!
