The Tennessee Titans (6-5) travel Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, NY to face the Buffalo Bills (5-6) this Sunday. With both teams looking to stay in playoff contention, this game should be a fierce battle. Both teams will be without key offensive stars, the Titans lost Kenny Britt to a season ending injury earlier in the year and the Bills will be without Fred Jackson who was lost for the season a few weeks back.
The Titans are coming off a dramatic come from behind win against the Buccaneers in which Matthew Hasselbeck threw a go-ahead touchdown pass late in the 4th quarter. It was easily Chris Johnson’s best game as he rushed for a season high 190 yards. The offensive line played great and opened up enormous holes for CJ2K. The Titans were aided by five Tampa Bay turnovers. The Titans come in to the game 11th ranked in turnover ratio and will look to capitalize this week against the Bills.
After the first 11 games of the season, the Titans look like an average football team. They started off with a 3-1 record but since then are just 3-4. With four out of the five losses against teams with seven wins or more and only two of their six wins are against teams with a winning record, you can see they have struggled against the better teams. The worst performance is clearly evident with a 41-7 shellacking back in week 6 against the Houston Texans. Their best performance was the 26-13 win in week 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Titans will look to build off of Johnson’s game last week as the Bills rank 22nd against the run this season. No doubt the Titans have struggled with the run game this year as evident with their 30th ranked running attack. At times I think its Chris Johnson and other times I think it’s the offensive line. I have concluded that it’s a combination of both. Johnson doesn’t seem to have the confidence as he has during his first three seasons. Are there several components to blame? i.e. the lockout, the holdout, a combination of the two? Who really knows! As a Titan fan, we need CJ2K to run like his old self if we plan on making the playoffs.
Prediction: Titans 27- Bills 23
