Usually, when we talk about the Hall of Fame, we are talking about a professional sports HOF, like the NFL, NBA, or Major League Baseball. All of the sports leagues make questionable inductions and exclusions(…humm.. Cris Carter…), but the Rock-n-Roll-Hall-of -Fame has exceeded all of the major sports leagues with their most recent inductions. Obviously, the people voting are retarded, sorry, how about mentally or socially handicapped.
Guns N Roses was a rock band from the 80′s, that while significant, only made one album that was great. In fact, 1987′s “Appetite For Destruction” was the only major release that included all of the original band members. While the “Use Your Illusion” albums were decent, they were also signaled the end of the L.A. band that had stormed the scene just five years earlier. GNR was great for a moment, but the Hall of Fame is about a band’s longevity, significance, and success over a period of time. This is Rock-n-Roll, so there should be no moral requirements. What did GNR really do?
As far as rock bands in the 1980′s go, GNR was probably #4, behind Bon Jovi, U2, and Metallica(not necessarily in that order). However, the other three bands have been relevant for 20 years and two of them are already in the HOF. Bon Jovi, who is the one band excluded out of the four, is in a different league than GNR at this point. The boys from Jersey have been a constant in the rock scene and have released seven studio albums of new material since Axl and Slash were making music together. Meanwhile, Axl has done everything he can to make himself irrelevant.
It is a sad day when GNR makes the HOF over other bands like Bon Jovi, Rush, Journey, or Yes. This day is even more tragic when you reward a retard like Axl Rose. This guy’s ego destroyed GNR, but the powers that be are feeding that ego with this selection. Steven Adler, GNR’s original drummer and Axl’s childhood friend, doesn’t even know if he will be welcome at the induction ceremony/performance. Say what? I know that the NFL has f’up Cris Carter’s HOF induction, but I think that the Rock-n-Roll HOF has made a bigger blunder.
