Time For The Blame Game in Buffalo

Who is to blame for the Bills 37-10 loss and more importantly who should fans blame for a 12th straight year without a  playoff appearance?  Here is a list of possible candidates

  • Coaching: Since their last playoff appearance the Bills have gone through five head coaches, multiple coordinators with just 1 winning season. I don’t believe the Bills should fire anyone this year, but is Coach Gailey to blame? Was Buffalo’s offense too easy to figure out for opposing defenses? It’s looked like way since their last win.
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick: Mo Money More Problems?… I Got 99 problems but the money ain’t none? We can’t possible say that Fitzpatrick’s big pay day caused him to play poorly. What caused the decline in offense during this losing streak? Injuries has played a huge part this year. Losing receivers, offensive lineman and Fred Jackson probably made it hard for Fitzpatrick to create any chemistry with new guys and the consistency we saw in the first 5 weeks are gone.
  • Defense: HUGE blame on defense. I believe they should let go of Edwards and move Dave Wannstedt  in. The Bills are once again near the bottom of the list in almost every defensive category. The one plus is that they are among the best in turnovers. They say defense wins championships, and if Buffalo wants to make the playoffs they will need to figure something out to get this defense back to what it was….20 years ago!
  • Special Teams: The Bills only have 500 kickoff return yards compared to their 1500 yards last year. Hard to blame the kick returners for lack of production when every kickoff is a touchback. For the love of God, please move the ball back to the 30 yard line again. BORING! With that said, we could put some blame on our punt returners. The average return is under 10 yards, the longest is 45 and they have fair caught it 16 out of 20 times. Doesn’t say much for the defense either when you only have 20 attempts.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that you can’s pinpoint the Bills lack of success on one piece of the puzzle, therefore the most logical explanation is that as a collective unit the Buffalo Bills will need to fix everything. And all I ask is that they do it soon!
