The Cleveland Browns are actually in the media, but for the wrong reason.

Mike Holmgren (above) came out Wednesday Afternoon to tell the inconvenient truth. Quarterback Colt McCoy was not examined for a concussion in Week 14s game at Pittsburgh. First of all, we all knew McCoy was rocked by James Harrison’s helmet-to-helmet hit to the Quarterback’s mouth. Bringing him back in the game is an unexcusable mistake made by the Browns medical team and coaching staff. Especially when they confirmed they were examining McCoy’s left hand, are you kidding me? Fines and penalties are sure to come to Cleveland’s football organization, but mistakes happen and we as fans need to look past this incident.

With McCoy out this week with concussion like symptoms, the Browns head out to Arizona with Seneca Wallace under center. It also seems as if Kevin Kolb could be out with a head injury this week, therefore handing the starting job to, “the man who never loses”, John Skelton. Even with injuries plaguing Kolb’s season (is he worth the money?), this young Cardinals team has continued to impress, sitting at 6-7 while actually staying in the hunt for the last wild card seed (far-fetched, but still).

The Cardinals are coming off 3 straight victories, 2 against winning teams and their defense has really blossomed in the last couple weeks playing hard-nose football. Not as if this game really matters for Cleveland, but with all the controversy a win really puts that all behind the organization (maybe). A victory also ends this damn 3 game losing streak, Cleveland’s last win came against Jacksonville in Week 11 when the Browns luckily squeezed out that W in a 14-10 defensive battle.

The Orange and Brown still rank high in opponent passing yards, only allowing around 180 yards through the air per game, that’s good enough for 2nd in the NFL. Once again stopping the run in key situations has been a challenge for the defensive line, LE Mitchell has disappointed the coaching staff this season as they look to replace him come late April. Cardinal’s RB Beanie Wells has been somewhat injury prone and basically a hit or miss game in and game out.

Questions are circulating in Cleveland as we near the end of the season and the Browns are looking to make some BIG changes in the offseason, preferably in the WR core and possibly the RB postion depending on the signing of Peyton Hillis. Another topic has a rosen in Berea and it contains replacing Colt McCoy at the end of the season therefore looking for a new franchise QB of the future. If this rumor holds true, we can count out Cleveland for a couple more years as it will most likely set the franchise back again. You may not agree with my opinion, but giving McCoy weapons will extremely improve his talent and ability to win football games, so drafting another QB shouldn’t be in the question.

Seneca Wallace looks to lead the Browns into Arizona to play spoiler and destroy the Cardinal’s playoff hopes and if not; does it hurt the Browns?

No, not at all.

Happy Holidays and more importantly: Happy Festivus, the Holiday for the rest of us.  (Dec. 23rd)
