Will The Chiefs Play Spoiler?

It’s Tebow Time.  The Chiefs’ know their season is over after Sunday, but that isn’t necessarily the case for the Broncos.  After everything Denver has been through this season their future now comes down to this final game.  Can Tebow continue his magical run or will the Chiefs play spoiler in the new year?

Before the whole Tim Tebow saga began in Denver they had a quarterback by the name of Kyle Orton.  The Broncos started the season 1-4 and decided it was time to bring in their savior.  Who knew two months later they’d be playing their opening day QB for a chance to make the playoffs?

The only thing the Chiefs have to play for this week is pride and the joy that comes with preventing a division rival from making the playoffs.  Head Coach Romeo Crennel has already said that they are going to play a tough game and not just roll over and you know Kyle Orton wants to get back at his old team.

Orton has helped give this Kansas City offense some life.  There’s no question they have been able to move the ball with much more consistency ever since he took over the starting role.  Now it all comes down to whether they can finish drives against this tenacious Denver defense.  The Chiefs’ offensive line is going to have its hands full with Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil.  The two have combined for 21 sacks this season and have dominated their competition.  Denver relies heavily on their defense and the Chiefs will have to take points where they can get them.

Now let’s talk about what Kansas City is going to need to do in order to stop Tim Tebow and the rest of the Broncos’ offense.  Last week he threw three interceptions and lost a fumble against the Buffalo Bills.  If the Chiefs are able to contain the quarterback and force him to rely on his arm they’ll have a chance to also intercept a few passes.  Kansas City’s defensive backs are great at making plays on the ball, so that will definitely be key if they are going to have success.

It’s the last week of the regular season and no one wants to finish on a sour note.  This is a division game with playoff implications.  Both of these teams will be coming out hungry and both want to end up victorious at Mile High.
