Packers face Giants for NFC Championship spot

The Green Bay Packers have played the New York Giants once already this season and they will look to face them again Jan. 15.

The Packers won the first game against the Giants 38-35 in the Meadowlands. The next game will be remarkably different as the Packers will be hosting the Giants at Lambeau.

While it has snowed there the past few days, it is supposed to be fairly nice weather for the game. There is not supposed to be any snow, but it is going to be a bit chilly.

Many have wondered if the Giants can beat the Packers this week, the answer? Yes. Will the Giants do it? That is the better question.

The Giants have a running game to keep the Packers off the field and a quarterback in Eli Manning which can play very well, but very bad at times. They have the front four to get after Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and cause him to have a rough outting.

While the Giants have the tools, I do not see them pulling off the victory. The Packers are completely healthy and have looked good against their last two opponents. Even with the game against the Detriot Lions when quarterback Matt Flynn played instead of Rodgers.

The Packers have a questionable defense, but the Giants pass defense has been known to give up big games to quarterbacks as well, with way fewer turnovers then the Packers. Rodgers also has been taking care of the ball this season. Manning, not as much. He’s known for having games with three to four interceptions. So it’s possible for the Packers defense to have a big day against him.

All in all, I feel the crowd at Lambeau will be fired up. The last playoff game against the Giants the Giants came away with an overtime victory in 2007. The fans in Green Bay have not forgotten that, as well as the players. They want another trip to the Super Bowl and they sure do not want the Giants to end their run again.

The key Packers offensive player to this game will be tight end Jermichael Finley.

There are a few players you could pick, but offensively if the Packers are going to stall, it’s because Finley has been known to drop passes. If he comes to play as well as he talks, the Packers should not have any issues against the Giants.

On defense, I could pick two players which are obvious, but it comes down to corner Tramon Williams. Shocked? Do not be. For the Packers to be successful in bringing pressure agains the Giants they will rely on linebacker Clay Matthews and defensive back Charles Woodson, but in order for the different blitzes to be successful for the Packers Williams will need to lock down on wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz for it to be successful.

Now for the prediction. The Packers come away with the win here in another close game. The Packers win the game 31-27 in a close game that comes down to the final few minutes of play. Expect a a fun game to watch and enjoy!
