Derrick Rose returned to the lineup, after a four game absence, and provided a needed spark at the point guard position for the Chicago Bulls. As Derrick Rose returned for this game Luol Deng missed the game due to a left wrist sprain, which could be much worse after he had an MRI on it Sunday night according to head coach Tom Thibodeau. Deng is going to be missed but having Derrick Rose back makes up for his absence and is a good player to get back when you lose one of your starters. Of course the starting lineup did not look like it miss Deng tonight as all 5 starters had double digits in their 110-95 victory over the New Jersey Nets. Derrick Rose and Richard Hamilton led the way for the Bulls with 22 points apiece with Hamilton and Joakim Noah posting double-doubles. The Bulls shot an outstanding 57.3% from the floor while the Nets shot 48.1% which typically would lead to more than 95 points but the Bulls were able to overcome with defense at the right times that held off the Nets from keeping up with the Bulls throughout the game.
The Bulls improved to 16-3 on the year, 8-0 at home, after the victory and continued their torrid start to the year. The Bulls have been arguably the best defensive team on the year and when they shoot like they did tonight and put up 110 points in a game they are most likely going to come out on top since they are so good defensively. With all of the nagging injuries that keep striking the Heat the Bulls have to be the favorite to represent the Eastern Conference in the NBA Finals with their play thus far.
