Pujols Punctuates New Era
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Steven Keys.
You can’t see it, can’t hear it and can’t smell it, but it’s there. Baseball’s in the air. Spring training’s over a month away (MRD / 3-2) but the big deals are done and the temps are heating-up in southern climes. Before you know it the sound of ball smacking leather (Rawlings & glove) will fill the air at parks around the country. Until then there’s plenty of sporting fare t...

Celtics Close out the Cavs 93-90
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Warren Shaw.
It wasn't pretty but the Boston Celtics escaped the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 93-90 win. Five Celtics scored in double digits led by Paul Pierce's 20 points, followed by Kevin Garnett and Brandon Bass with 13. Ray Allen and Jermaine O'neal chipped in with 12 each. After blowing an 11 point lead in the final four minutes Sunday night to these same Cavs, the Celtics nearly blew a 22 point lead ...

All Star Captains Rematch
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Mika Oehling.
It was a second match up in as many days for Zdeno Chara and Daniel Alfredsson, but this time, it wasn't a friendly. Ottawa's 4-3 loss to the Boston Bruins was fast-paced and salty, with a good measure of physicality which shows that we are very clearly in the second half of the season. The break is over and done with, and as Ottawa looks ahead to the last 30 games of the season, they're going ...

Hawks go 4-1 on road trip
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by John Morgo.
The nightmare is over. The crazy game of hopscotch that Atlanta has been on the past week-and-a-half ended with a convincing 100-77 victory over the Toronto Raptors. Joe Johnson put down 30, and Tracy McGrady came off the bench to add 15. For the Raptors, Jerryd Bayless had 15. Atlanta went 4-1 on the road trip, and, as I pointed out earlier, was made crazier due to it's up and down nature (see...

Tom Being Tom
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Corey Rioux.
As a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan who used to live amongst the surrounding area of Foxboro, Massachusetts, who's inspired his own ideas from the talks of Patriot fans, I'd like to introduce you to my perspective on a certain individual; here is my humble opinion on New England's most decorated athlete, Tom Brady. Tom Brady is headed to his 5th Super Bowl on Sunday, tied for the most all time ...

All About Alfie
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Mika Oehling.
The NHL 2012 All-Star Weekend was about the stars, but it was really all about Alfie. Ottawa's love affair with its superstar NHL player encompasses every aspect of what makes a love story great: a long term relationship, ups and downs, heart, integrity, pride and lots of great memories. More of these memories were made during the NHL 2012 All-Star Weekend, with Ottawa and the Ottawa Senators t...

First blog of 2012…..quite a bit's been going on. And free agency hasn't even started yet, but moves are being made by the Alouettes as they prepare for the 2012 CFL season. Let's have a look, along with my thoughts on these moves: - So us Montreal fans may have had a reason to despise the Indianapolis Colts, as our esteemed general manager Jim Popp & head coach Marc Trestman were bei...

Set the DVR: Philadelphia vs. Winnipeg – Round 3
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 by Joshua Bartle.
In two meeting this season, the Flyers dropped two wild games to the Winnipeg Jets 9-8 and 6-4. If that is any indication, we may be in for another wild game tonight. This is the first game day in the league since the All-Star Break, and neither team has played since last Tuesday. Both teams are ripe for a sloppy game. Although, unlikely to be as sloppy as the 9-8 game from November, in which I...
