I thought about waiting until the end of the game between the Hawks and Heat before posting. Since, at the end of the third, Miami’s up 88-61, I went against it. The Hawks are resilient, but even this is too much. LeBron has 23, and Dwayne has 21. Hawks announcer Steve Holman thought they were trying to force the baskets so they can pad their stats before they sit down for the rest of the game. (With the compressed schedule, you have to take these breaks when you can.) For the Hawks, Joe has 12 and Willie Green contributed 10 off the bench. (Recent signee Erick Dampier has yet to get in. Maybe he’ll get some in the fourth.) Big stat: the Heat have taken 31 foul shots (made 26), but Atlanta has attempted 6 (making 5, so at least we’re winning the percentage battle). Maybe Atlanta is thinking about this huge 10-day road trip, where they’ll play at the Lakers, Phoenix, Portland, Chicago, and New York. Did I mention it was just 10 days and it’s cross-country? Fortunately, the All-Star break is right around the corner and the team can decompress. I tell you, Josh Smith should be thankful that ‘politics’ (his word) kept him out of the party in Orlando.
