A.J., not O.K. with M.O. V.E. to L.A. (A)

Spring training has arrived! For the Angels, pitchers and catchers report on the 19th. This is going to be one of the more anticipated springs in Tempe in a long time. Adding Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson will do that to a team.

From what I heard, the Angels almost added a #5 starter by the name of A.J. Burnett. Burnett, who has been actively shopped by the Yankees, was reportedly coming to the Halos for Bobby Abreu. I, for one, loved that deal. With the the glaring New York spotlight off him, I think Burnett would have shined in Anaheim, or with the LAA (Sorry).

However, he reportedly nixed the deal because his wife hates flying. Here’s an idea, take some of that hundreds of million you have, and buy a place in So. Cal. She doesn’t even have to fly, she could charter a Hummer limo to drive her here. There’s a joke in there, somewhere.

Nope, not gonna happen. I hope the family enjoys Pittsburgh, where he’ll play in 2012. The Bucs have been wading in the shallow end of the pool since the late 90′s.

I just need to get this right. You are willing to trade in Pujols, Hunter, Kendrick, Trumbo, Morales, Weaver, Wilson, Haren and Bourjos (Do you think for a minute I would write Wells?) for
Derrik Lee, Garret Jones, Neil Walker, Andrew McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez, Erik Bedard, Kevin Correia, James McDonald and Nate McLouth. Got it, thanks.

I do like that he put his family first, but I figured he wanted to win too.

The #5 spot is still up for grabs. Bring on Jerome Williams and Garret Richards.
