Stea-Lin Revenge….Nets Beat Knicks!

Madison Square Garden was buzzing as the (9-24)Nets came into the epicenter of the Lin craze to take on the (16-16)Knicks. The home team came out to a fast start against their cross-river rivals. The Nets played from behind from the opening tip, despite the slow start the Jersey guys stayed competitive thanks to Deshawn Stevenson’s 3 point shooting. The Knicks finished the first quarter with a 21-18 lead.

The Nets continued their tough play throughout the first part of the 2nd quarter. The Nets then surged ahead with hot three point shooting to take a 50-42 lead into halftime. Deron Williams finished the first two quarters with 18 points and 4 assists. Marshon Brooks had 13 points and Deshawn Stevenson chipped in with 9 points.

The Nets kept up the momentum in the 3rd quarter, as they continued to frustrate the Knicks defense with good outside shooting. Deron Williams took over the remainder of the quarter as he exploded for 17 points to propel the Nets to a big 82-66 lead on their rivals at the end of the third quarter.

As the final period began Deron Williams was forced to sit on the bench with his 5th foul. The Knicks made a quick push to cut the Nets lead to 8 points at 85-77. Humphries picked up the slack for his point guard by dominating in the paint and giving the Nets a 92-79 lead. D-Will fouled out of the game with a season high 38 points. Marshon Brooks and Anthony Morrow added the knockout blow to the lowly Knicks.

The Nets defeat the Knicks 100-92. The Jersey guys earned their second impressive road win in their last three games. Marshon Brooks ended with 18 points and 4 assists. Humphries finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Deshawn Stevenson chipped in with 14 points. Jeremy Lin ended his night with 21 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds. Carmelo Anthony finished his disappointing performance with 11 points on 4 of 11 shooting for the Knicks.

The Nets didn’t stop Lin from playing well, but they did get a All-Star caliber performance from their top gun to pull out a unexpected win against the much-hyped Knicks.

I’m sure that the Jersey guys will be happy to have a nice taste of revenge to take with them back across the Hudson River. The Nets earned their 10th victory of the season.

Brook Lopez did not play tonight. The (10-24)Nets next game is against Dwight Howard and the (21-12) Orlando Magic. Could this be a preview of the future for the Brooklyn Nets? This will be a very interesting last game before the All-Star break for D-Will, Hump and the rest of the crew from Jersey.
