Stop The Hate on Hump….Nets!

Now, let’s be honest! Most basketball fans didn’t know Kris Humphries until his highly-publicized, short-lived marriage to Kim Kardashian. So, as he quickly became the most HATED player in the NBA.

I found the boos from opposing crowds funny, then as it began to sink deeper into my head.¬†I realized that a lot of misguided fans don’t understand the value of what a player like Kris can have for their team.

Nets supporters have the privilege of witnessing what the scrappy power forward brings to the court every game. Well, here are a few reasons why the former Mr. Kardashian should get a little more love from the harsh boobirds.

1. He is a good TEAM player – Despite his public “reputation” for being selfish. Kris has displayed his ability to be a good teammate with the Nets. He is known for taking charges, hustling for loose balls and setting strong screens for his guards, all of which are selfless acts on the basketball court.

2. He is a HARD worker – Now, grant it after only 72 days of marriage. It’s fair to say that neither side worked too hard on keeping their union together. Yet, between the lines Humphries is a ferocious rebounder, who is a double-double threat despite the fact that he is an under-sized post player.

3. He is a SCAPPER, not a STAR! – Kris manage to beat out more popular players like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James despite the fact that he doesn’t amaze fans with his athletic ability or rip the hearts out of opposing teams with game-winning shots. On the ball court, Hump is the type of player you don’t notice doing much until the end of the game. Humphries is known for getting “quiet stats”.

Now, I don’t believe that episodes of a reality TV show can ever let us find out the “real” deal between the Nets forward and his celebrity ex-wife. Yet, I feel that NBA fans should “boo” Kris Humphries for his tough, aggressive play on the court and not for the media circus that took place off of it.
