Bulls Shut Down Pacers

The Chicago Bulls outrebounded the Indian Pacers by a staggering total of 60-32 in the Bulls 92-72 victory over the Pacers Monday night. This rebounding effort by the Bulls is what makes them such a dangerous team because they tend to limit opponents second chance opportunities to few and the 18 offensive rebounds by the Bulls shows that they provide themselves with plenty second chance scoring opportunities. The rebounding effort was not the only contributing factor to this victory over the Pacers as both teams struggled shooting the ball and the Bulls defensive effort was once again solid and helped limit the Pacers scoring. The Bulls only shot 42.3% from the floor but they did hold the Pacers to 34.2% shooting. The Bulls defense and the Pacers horrid shooting helped contribute to this low shooting percentage and also the low scoring total.
The Bulls were led in scoring by Luol Deng who put up 20 points and 6 rebounds, and Joakim Noah contributed with a very productive 17 rebound effort to go along with his 9 points. The Bulls had four other players who dished in double digit scoring efforts who helped pick up the slack of Carlos Boozer who had 4 points and Richard Hamilton who was only able to play one minute. Derrick Rose also struggle shooting this game as he went 5-16 from the floor and only had 13 points to go along with a game high 9 assists. The Pacers on the other hand wish they had the problems the Bulls did this game but the majority of their problems came from the struggles of their front court and starting point guard. The Pacers only got 31 points total from both the starters and bench players from the forward and center positions. Also, Darren Collison was unable to score a point and only had 3 assists in 31 minutes of action. The Pacers terrible shooting effort is no reason though to discredit how good the Bulls defense was during this game because their stout defense helped contribute to adjustments for shots and limit the Pacers in having good looks from the floor. The Bulls defense continued to impress tonight with the tight defense and the ability to outrebound teams that they showed tonight, because the 60-32 margin is a high difference in rebounding totals but the Bulls are a very good rebounding team and it was on display tonight.
After this victory the Bulls improve their Eastern Conference leading record to 32-8 and continue to show they are one of the top teams in the NBA. The Heat have struggled recently and no other Easter Conference team has really shown that they should be in the discussion with the Heat and Bulls as to which team will represent the East in the NBA Finals. With the way the Bulls have been playing lately and the Heats inconsistencies the Bulls are my favorite to represent the East in the finals.
