As Deron Williams began to torch the hapless Bobcats in the second half of last night’s game. Nets fans we’re reminded of a few things…We we’re reminded of D-Will’s individual basketball skills as a top notched shooter. We we’re also reminded of what amazing firepower, we could lose out on after the final twenty-eight games of the season. We we’re definitely reminded of the greatness that could come to Brooklyn, if we can add that big fella from Orlando.Anyway, that’s another story!
Back to D-Will, the All-Star point guard went off for 40 points in the second half. Deron simply took over the third quarter by knocking down an array of jumpshots and shredding the Charlotte defense with quick scoring slashes to the hoop. After already scoring 39 points in the first three frames(17 -1st half, 22-3rd qtr.) D-Will continue to dismantle the lowly Bobcats for another 18 points including hitting 21 of 21 free throws to go along with 16 made field goals, 7 assists and 6 rebounds.
The Nets needed every point, assist and rebound from number 8 to beat Charlotte 104-101. Kris Humphries had another double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Center Brook Lopez left the game with a sprain ankle, he will be out of the lineup for three weeks.
D-Will’s amazing performance sets the franchise record for most points in a single game(57) Williams tops the likes of Vince Carter, Stephon Marbury and Nets legend “Super” John Williamson. Williams 57 points also ranks as the highest point total for one player in the NBA this season. Deron destroyed his previous career high by 15 points (42) last night in Charlotte.
Deron Williams had a night that most players could only dream of, regardless if it was against the Bobcats or not. D-Will reminded all NBA fans why he is one of the best players in the league and New Jersey fans why we need him in a Nets uniform.
